Set up summer zones in your home
Create designated ‘zones’ to reduce clutter and decision fatigue. A craft zone with pre-stocked supplies, a snack zone which kids can access independently and a chill-out zone for both you and the kids stocked with books, puzzles, LEGO and cooling aids (fan, wipes)!
Particularly for you; a comfy chair, a shady spot in the garden, wherever it is, make sure everyone knows that this is the spot that you reset and recharge and stock it with whatever helps you relax. Use yours daily, even if just for five minutes.
This helps kids stay entertained without wrecking the whole house - and gives you peace of mind during those chaotic moments. Prep these areas just once a week to reduce overwhelm.
Declutter your commitments & embrace the power of a loose daily rhythm

Be ruthless with your calendar. Summer often gets overbooked with outings, playdates and family visits. Say ‘no’ more often, protect pockets of downtime and give yourself the grace to simplify and do less. Pick one or two ‘anchor events’ a week and let the rest be simple.
Write a basic daily routine and stick it somewhere visible with ‘anchor’ points throughout the day: breakfast, outdoor play, lunch, quiet time etc. Nothing fancy.
Predictability lowers chaos for kids so it’s just enough structure so everyone knows what’s happening next without being too rigid. This keeps the day flowing and knowing there is a break or quiet moment built in gives your nervous system a breather and helps you feel more in control.
Keep visual clutter low and tidy-up easy
Visual clutter = mental clutter.

Do a 5 minute ‘reset’ before dinner or bedtime with the kids (make it a game or pick a song to do it to and use baskets for quick ‘chuck-it-in’ tidy ups). Put half the toys away at the beginning of the Summer and rotate them once a week.
Declutter your own ‘hot spot’ once a week - keep it small and nothing too sentimental - a kitchen counter, the hallway, cutlery, socks or mugs etc and keep a donation bag handy.
Less mess equals more mental space - for managing mini meltdowns!
Home calm = Mum calm. You've got this!
